Welcome Back From Spring Break!

I hope you all had a great Spring Break and Easter! From what the kids have told me, it seems like you all did! Such great weather we had as well! We had a busy and tiring day todaybut we got lots done! We started our Social Studies unit on Pioneer and Roles in Communities today. We will be also starting two new units in Science soon. Grade twos will be learning about animals, and Grade threes will be learning about structures. We have lots of fun and exciting things planned as well as a lot of things to get done before the end of the year! 

I noticed a lot of students brought their Egg Drop supplies today! We are getting excited to make our contraptions this Friday with our buddy class. It will be interesting to see how many eggs stay safe! Attached is a copy of the notice below in case some people forgot what we were doing.

Dear Parents/Guardians,                              

Attached is a copy of the Egg Drop Challenge that Divisions 9 & 20 will be starting when we return from Spring Break. Your child will face the challenge of creating a device/structure with their buddy, but will need some support from home.

Please help your child gather a variety of materials that they may use in the construction of their device with their buddy. Place all items in a plastic bag labeled with your child’s name. If providing a container, it must be no bigger than 20cm x 20cm. Please do not construct the device (they will do this at school with their buddy), simply provide possible materials for your child and their buddy to use. Possible materials could include:

·      Pieces of string

·      Bandana

·      Plastic grocery bags

·      Section of an egg carton

·      Coat hangers

·      Black garbage bags

·      Hole punch

·      Styrofoam

·      Straws

·      Plastic food containers

·      Shredded paper

·      Duct-tape

·      Strawberry baskets

·      Cotton balls
